2003 Wurtele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 750 ml
The 2003 growing season started with bud break in April followed by high temperatures in May and then an abrupt fall in temperature in June. The heat re-appeared for the majority of the summer allowing for a long growing season. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 20 months with 45% new barrels. The nose is full of cassis, dark chocolate, and spice. The palate explodes with intensely focused black fruit interwoven with mineral notes, and a dark chocolate richness followed by big chewy and fleshy tannins. Big and bold yet soft tannins continue through to the long finish.
