2011 Merlot 750
Vintage: A wet spring continued with rainfall into mid-June that delayed bloom and then set the stage for a long, cooler-than-average season. With a few high heat events occurring during August the growers managed to open vine canopies to ensure sunlight, warmth and good air circulation around the grape clusters. While quantity was low, the fruit this year will make for well-balanced wines with good intensity, structure and texture with a brightness of flavor.
Vineyard: The 2011Estate Merlot was sourced from the Yverdon Vineyard on Spring Mountain, located at an elevation of 2,000 feet. Nine distinct blocks were selected on the estate and planted to two French clones, 181 and 348. In total, six and a half acres were planted to Merlot. The best lots from these few acres are blended to create this spectacular Estate offering.
Tasting: Ripe black cherry with lush floral notes and baking spices. Candied raspberry and soft sweet tannins are rounded out with rich body.
10% Cabernet Franc
