2007 Marriage - Tasting: Deep, ripe black currant and blackberry fruit jump out of the glass with licorice and dusty earth. The full and rich palate coats the mouth with cocoa covered bing cherry and a soft loamy earth round out the incredible length and concentration. Composition: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot
2006 Yverdon - Vineyard Notes: The renovation of the historic Yverdon Vineyard. Named after an ancient merchant town in Switzerland, Yverdon (pronounced ee-ver-dun) was the name of the winery site that Angus and Margaret Wurtele purchased in 1999 to become Terra Valentine. With the help of our vineyard management team and renowned consultants, we selected specific clones and rootstocks ideal to our soil types and elevation. We planted eight acres of cabernet sauvignon and one acre of merlot at an elevation of 2000 feet located only yards away from Villa Valentine. Tasting Notes: Sage, bay cedar, and black currant mingle with smooth fruit and fresh blackberries. Notice how the brightness of this wine complements the full, plush mid-palate and fine, silt-like tannins that lend to the superb mouth-feel and exceptional balance. Estimated maturity: 2012-2020
2004 Wurtele - Vintage Notes: In 2004, bud break occurred early and the trend carried forward throughout the growing season. Heat spikes occurred in June and at scattered intervals throughout the summer season. Sugars developed earlier than normal and temperatures were steady into on e of the earliest harvests we have had. The quality of the grape was excellent, producing small and intense fruit. Tasting Notes:This wine opens with wild berries, black licorice, peppercorn and spice. Deep black cherry fruit and chocolate ease into a broad mid-palate with supple tannins and a long finish. Estimated maturity, 9-12
