Vintage: In 2010 rainfall returned after three dry years, pushed bud break, flowering and fruit-set back by at least two weeks at the front end of the growing season, and due to the cloud cover, there was no frost damage. The cool early summer growing season coupled with the unexpected heat spikes in the late summer resulted in a late and shortened harvest with lower yields. Vintners were excited about what they were tasting from the vineyards--concentrated flavors that will materialize into elegant, structured wines, almost European in style.

Vineyard: The Yverdon Vineyard consists of 25 acres planted throughout the property which was originally planted back in the late 1960’s as the Yverdon Winery.  In 2001 we began replanting the original vineyard and in 2006 we expanded with additional acreage.  The property is located at the highest elevations in the Spring Mountain District and experiences warm mornings due to being above the fog and cooler afternoon temperatures due to the elevation.  The mixture of rootstocks and clones paired with the many micro-climates on the estate produce grapes that show the elegance and intensity that can be achieved at the highest elevations in our district.

Tasting: Opens with cherry and violet floral notes on the nose.  The palate follows with more bright fruits of mulberry and hints of brown sugar.  The tannins are soft and elegant allowing the wine to be very approachable.
