Spring is finally here! The vineyard is awakening from a long winter’s nap and we now embark on a brand new vintage. This also signals the first wine club release of 2026. This shipment highlights the very special release of our 2022 Foretell Pinot Noir from Fort-Ross Seaview, 2022 One Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2022 Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2022 Growing Season
Winemakers are calling 2022 “the tale of two harvests.” An earlier than usual start to white wine harvest in August was followed quickly by reds, creating a fast-paced and unusual season. September brought several days of intense heat, then rain that paused harvest and offered a much-needed reset.
Grapes that remained on the vine into October benefited from mild, ideal conditions, allowing for beautiful ripeness and balance. The resulting wines are vibrant and expressive. Whites with bright acidity and freshness, and reds with deep color, elegant structure, and luxurious tannins.
The 2022 vintage in the mountains of the Napa Valley was a very different vintage than the valley floor. While the valley floor baked in heat in September heat, we were able to manage the heat in the mountains with proper irrigation and canopy management that allowed the fruit to hang well into October achieving an impressive degree of flavor and ripeness.

“The blending of red fruits from the Fountaingrove side of the Mayacamas with the dark black fruits of the Spring Mountain side reveal exotic blue fruits of boysenberry and blueberry still framed by red currant, pomegranate and cassis. The fruit takes on a leathery component with dusty cocoa powder, baking spices and caramel with notes of cedar and graphite as well. Dense, chewy and dark with black licorice notes on the palate that linger with balanced acidity and tannin for an elegantly long finish.
