Vineyard Notes: The fruit is sourced from the Sunny View Vineyard on Guerneville Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The small 2 acre vineyard was planted in 1999 and enjoys cool foggy mornings and mild temperatures that maintain the natural acidity and allow long hang time for flavor development reminiscent of the Northern Rhone Valley appellation of Condrieu where the Viognier grape originates.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were harvested in early September and whole cluster pressed directly to a small stainless tank where it was cold settled at 45 degrees. The clean juice was racked and inoculated and held at 50 degrees for a long and cold fermentation that preserved the delicate aromatic esters. After fermentation, the wine was racked to French oak puncheons where it aged for six months surlie prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: Apricot, lichee nut, lilikoi, Asian pear, and pineapple notes are mingled with white flower notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. Bright tropical fruit notes carry onto the palate balanced with soft, round acid with notes of lemon curd and caramel finishing long and crisp.
