At Terra Valentine we have created Amore, a special Sangiovese based blend, as an expression of our love of Super Tuscan style wines. After we released our first vintage of 2002 Amoré, we quickly learned of our strong following for this easy drinking and delicious wine.

Vintage Notes: In 2009 we were blessed by a mild spring with very little frost damage, compared to 2008, when spring doled out six times the amount of frosty mornings. The fact that late spring rains helped to develop water reservoirs, along with the lower than average high temperatures, helped reduce the need for water. Cooler temperatures and longer hang time coupled to allow for a slow-and-steady growing season. The relaxed pace of harvest was abruptly transformed to rush-harvesting as early-season rain welcomed itself to the valley. Even so, the grapes that were harvested in time were well-developed and ready to go.

Winemaking Notes: The 2009 Amoré is a blend of 89% Sangiovese from Atlas Peak, 4.5% cabernet sauvignon and 3% merlot from the Yverdon Vineyard, along with 3.5% cabernet sauvignon from our Wurtele Vineyard. The wine was aged in 20% new French puncheons for 16 months prior to bottling March 14th 2011.

Tasting Notes: The 2009 Amore shows notes of violets, red fruit and spice on the nose. Juicy fruit and blueberries on the palette are followed by rich oak and dusty tannins.
