Terra Valentine produces wines with mountain intensity and balance that express the character of the Spring Mountain District appellation, the vineyards and the passion of the winemaking team. Terra, the Latin word for “land,” acknowledges the importance of hillside soil in the mountain wines. Valentine honors Owner Angus Wurtele’s father, Valentine Wurtele.

The long, warm growing season in 2002 is showcased by the rich intensity of dark fruit flavors in our estate cabernets from this vintage. Our 2002 Spring Mountain District Estate Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the intensity and complexity of our vineyards in yet another great vintage in the mountains. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, this wine was aged for 20 months in French Oak barrels one-third if which were new.

Aromas: Black brambly boysenberry, spicy clove and vanilla bean aromas are balance with subtle cocoa and rich, earthy espresso notes.

Mouth: Smooth and rich, this muscular yet elegant wine is packed with dark juicy fruit that fills the palette and finishes long accented by the creamy French oak.
